Hi,

I have had a Lunarpages Basic Plan for almost 5 years now, but I haven't done a great deal with the site which is now up for renewal in exactly 2 weeks time.

It just so happens that I would like to start a new site which is completely unrelated to the first; therefore, which is simpler and "cleaner":

1) Cancel the existing renewal and order a new account
2) Request that the existing account is renamed and purged (if that is indeed possible)

The desired end result is to start with a clean slate, and if that means a different server then "no problem".

Thanks,

Rod.

Well, depending on how much stuff is on your hosting account - it might be easier to remove everything but the neccessary files.  This should give you a good place to start:

Here's the basic list of files/folders on new linux-based (Basic and Business) accounts:

    * /etc
    * /mail
    * /public_html
    * /public_html/cgi-bin
    * /public_html/.htaccess
    * /public_ftp
    * /tmp
    * /www
    * /.lastlogin
    * /.contactemail

You may also see the following, depending on your account activity:

    * /.fantasticodata
    * /.cpanel
    * /.cpanel-datastore
    * /.htpasswd

Hi Mitch,

Thanks for the quick reply, but I am not seeking to "reset" the file structure of my existing account, I want to start afresh with a new account name pointing to a new domain name e.g. I currently login with something like "aaaaaa2" because it points to the primary domain "www.aaaaaaaaa.com"; however going forward I want to login to something like "zzzzzz2" because it points to a new primary domain name "www.zzzzzzzzz.com". So on that basis is it easier to cancel and start anew, or is it something the helpdesk can do?

Thanks,

Rod.

Well, I would recommend removing all the files (except for those I mentioned before) and then contacting support@lunarpages.com (or submit a help desk ticket) and we could do the primary domain name switch-a-roo for you.

Ok ... would I be correct in thinking that if the primary domain name can be changed from my example of "www.aaaaaaaaa.com" to "www.zzzzzzzzz.com", I would still have to login with the old account name of "aaaaaa2" rather than a new one of maybe "zzzzzz2"?

Thanks,

Rod.

You would in most cases keep the same user name, however yes they could chance the primary domain.   Thumbs Up

Ah I see ... in which case I think I will cancel and start anew. Don't worry though, I am happy with the service and will certainly be ordering the new account.

Incidentally, I think your billing department have just charged my credit card in advance of the renewal date for the old site. Will they reimburse me or can I treat that as credit for the new account when I cancel the old account?

I don't have access to all the details, however I am more than sure they'll be happy to work this issue out with you over the phone or via a help desk ticket.  Thumbs Up
