The servers are in Los Angeles.

At the moment, there are 10 servers that your website may be hosted on.

So you, being from Scotland would have nothing to do with how many hops or the speed US people would access a typical domain on your servers. Are you a moderator, owner, parter, tech support or some thing?

Thanks,

Michael

Just as a general response to that question (as I inturpreted it)..

Distance physically from a server usually means more hops on the network, which will slightly increase the amount of time it takes to access. With Lunarpages having a very good internet connection, I dont think this issue is likely to be noticed unless you preform some kind of detailed anlysis on it from the other side of the world. I'm located in Ontario Canada, and lunarpages.com is so far the fastest webhost I have come across. I get .5megabytes per second downloading from them. My old webhost (also in the states.. ) I got no more than 80 kilobytes per second downloading.

Hope that might answer your question, thought I'm sure stephan has an answer to your direct question as well!  "[Smile]"

Hi,

I'm just a moderator, but I've been here since July 2001, so that's quite a while!

Just to reassure you about how good the lunarpages internet connection is, here's a bit I've copied and pasted from somewhere else:

"Lunarpages is multihomed with NTT/Verio, Genuity, Global Crossing, COX, Adelphia, AOL/TimeWarner, Japan Telecom and more"

Hi    "[Smile]"
If you want to see how good Lunarpages are....compare connection speeds.. I have several websites.. But for this comparison.....One running with lunarpages.. And one running with a server that is 20 miles from where I am. compare speeds   "[Smile]"
Both the sites are pretty much the same site we just havent DUMPED the local one yet    "[exclamation]"
www.shyauto.com and www.shyauto.co.uk.
Just try to not doze off waiting for the UK site to load up ok   "[Razz]"

Awww.. Pete it's not that we didn't want you.  I had a terrible time choosing because there were so many great members applying  "[Smile]"

I went for multi skilled people in the end who could cover several different forums.
