Hi All,

I am looking at upgrading to a VPS account here on Lunarpages. I have a question though, It says that the ability to post unlimited sites is "available" and not "included", Is their an extra charge to host multiple sites? My idea is to develop sites for clients and then host them on my VPS.

Thanks in advance!

Hi rtedgar,

The reason it is listed as "available" instead of included is because some control panels, depending on the license you purchase will restrict the number of site that you can host. If you don't mind me asking how many sites/what type of sites are planning to host? Virtual Private Servers are great, but sometimes people aren't sure what to expect so if you could provide some information as to what you plan to host maybe I can help you figure out the best package for your needs.

Hi Joshua,

Right now I am just in the thought process. I do some Joomla development on the side and have done a few sites for friends, etc. I am thinking about trying to offer some sort of development of websites for local businesses and having the ability to host those sites for the customer as well. I was thinking that the VPS would be a good site, but I might be all wrong. I would be starting out with just a few small sites and hopefully adding sites as things pick up.

If I am barking up the wrong tree, let me know. Maybe I should be looking at a shared server instead of a VPS.

Thanks again!

Hi rtedgar,

I would recommend looking at something like the Xen Starter VPS (http://www.lunarpages.com/xen-virtual-private-server/) , since you are just getting started.  It isn't as expensive as the other VPS plans, and it comes with lunarpanel, which allows for unlimited domains to be added to the server.  The really nice part about the Xen VPS line is they can be upgraded, with out having to to an entire migration, which can make life easier down the line if you start expanding beyond the needs of the starter.

FYI, If you are used to shared hosting definitely look at our managed hosting packages, especially managed hosting intense, it can save you some grief, especially since you plan to resell the service. If you have any other questions please let us know.
