my site will have about 13 pages and some of them will be quite picture-intensive.    Will I be okay w/ the standard plan?  I absolutely cannot have slow page loads but don't know what number (bandwith, space, etc) is key.

You should be ok with the standard plan.

Big graphics take longer to load because they are bigger, and also use up more bandwidth.

To compress them, you can use Paintshop pro from www.jasc.com
