Hi Jacobdixon  Pete waves (http://www.x-visions.com/gifs/wave.gif)

(http://x-visions.com/gifs/welcome2.gif) to the Lunarforums (http://Lunarforums.com)   :welcome:

Are you thinking of joining us here at Lunarpages (http://Lunarpages.com) ?

I must admit its a bit worrying you asked that question given the nature of your business !!!!!!
Would seriously put me off using your company

Before trying any other methods to change your IP address, try turning off (or unplugging the power of) your Cable/DSL modem for five minutes. In many cases this will change your IP address. However, if that does not change your IP address, repeat the process for 8 hours (overnight works well) instead of 5 minutes. Hopefully this will result in an IP change.

If that does not work try these

1.Get to a command prompt. (START, run, cmd).
2.Type "ipconfig /release" (without the quotes, on the command line by itself).
3.Type "ipconfig /renew" (without the quotes, on the command line by itself).

Windows (second option)
- Computer connected directly to the modem
1.Get to a command prompt. (START, run, cmd).
2.Type "ipconfig /release" (without the quotes).
3.Shut down computer.
4.Turn off computer.
5.Turn off all ethernet hubs/switches.
6.Turn off cable/DSL modem.
7.Leave off overnight.
8.Turn everything back on.

Network with Router
1.Log into the router's admin console. (Often
2.Release the IP address. (Method varies by router manufacturer)
3.Turn off router, ethernet hubs/switches, and the cable/DSL modem.
4.Leave off overnight.
5.Turn everything back on.
If you are using a cable/DSL modem and a router, you may wish to connect your computer directly to the cable/DSL modem. Please note that this could significantly impact your system security. This allows your ISP's DHCP to issue you a new (hopefully changed) IP address based of the (hardware) MAC address of your computer's ethernet card.

If all the above has not worked to change your IP address and you have a router, check and see if there is a "Clone MAC Address" option. Using it should change your IP address; however, you'll only be able to do it once (in most cases).

These will not work in all cases. If all else fails contact your internet service provider (ISP) and ask them if they are able to change your IP address or how long your connection needs to be off for your IP address to change.

If you trying to change your IP address because you are just trying to access web based forums you may wish to attempt to configure your internet browser to use a proxy server.

If  you are running a web server or want people to be able to connect to your machine, you will probably need or use a static IP address. On the other hand, if all you do is connect out to surf or read email, as most users do, then a dynamic IP address is the easiest to configure.Routers are devices that allow multiple computers to share a single IP address. The device that's connected to the internet is the router, and it has a unique IP address. One of the many side effects of using a router is that it can be assigned a static address on the internet, and hand out dynamic IP addresses locally, vice versa, or any combination.

There are two different IP's they are Public IP and Private IP.
Public IP:
This is the IP with which our system is connected to the network and it is assigned by the Internet Service Provider.ISP may provide a static or dynamic IP address. If it is static then the network IP will not change and if it is a dynamic network IP it keeps changing when we reset the modem.

Private IP:
This IP is assigned for each device and is different for each device. So,your Private IP changes if you use a different devices (laptop, mobile).

Your Public IP changes if it is a dynamic IP or if you change your ISP.If it is a static IP your public IP wont change.

You can check your
Public Ip,ISP details using ip-details.com (http://ip-details.com) &
Private Ip using cmd-->ipconfig

Modem users

When connecting to the Internet over a dial-up Modem, your ISP will assign your computer an address each time you connect. This means that often each time you connect you'll have a different IP address. If you're wanting to change your IP address, try disconnecting and reconnecting. If you're assigned the same address, disconnect for a few minutes and then reconncect.

Broadband users

Broadband service providers will assign your computer or home network a static IP address. If you're connected to a broadband network and need to change your IP address try following the below steps.

Disconnect power to broadband modem

Release the IP address assigned to router

If your IP is static then you cant modify, but if it is not then you can change it by changing the IP address with the control panel Network connection properties of LAN
or mask your ip with a proxy
