Use compressed images, the less plugins means faster load times. Obviously smaller file sizes as well. If you write your site in a dedicated Class, then you can just call whichever functions you need via separate pages, and one CSS file, rather than copying pasting the same code throughout pages. You can reduce average file size from 200kb to 5kb. Not much, especially with today's technology but perhaps on a phone it's noticeable.

Try cutting down on fancy web page junk. Do you really need hoverable drop-down menus, and those 7 JS templates like backbone.js, angular.js etc.

Does your home page have a dumb animated GIF that is 5-10mb in size, and not really used for much of anything at all?
Friendship is like peeing on yourself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings.

Minify CSS files, optimize images, Minify Javascripts.
