Domain age is very powerful to get higher ranking on search result. Older domain leaves good impact on visitors as well as search engine. Older domain is mention as more trustable and reputable then newer domain over the internet. Because search engines and web users may not properly aware about newer domain. Older domain is more popular then newer domain so that it can get higher ranking position in search engine result.

I don’t think a domain’s age should be underestimated as it can affect the quality of traffic directed to it.

I'm sure the domain age has a tiny impact but generally its all about the links, the more sites link to yours the higher you get on google.
Google looks for content of interest, you can have the oldest domain on the web and it does not mean a thing without links to it. The google boots are programmed to track links and clicks, that is how they establish the popularity of a website.

Actually that is not correct, it only plays a very small part Read here: http://blog.ineedhits.com/tips-advice/is-domain-age-an-important-google-ranking-factor-17379017.htmlQuoted from the article “The difference between a domain that’s six months old verses one year old is really not that big at all. As long as you’ve been around for at least a couple of months, you should be able make sure that you can show up in search results”

Well Domain age matters a lot. Older domains really impress search engines but the domains those are going to expire soon or have registered for short amount of time, don't leave good impact on search engines.

I think ,domain age doesn't matter on ranking because I have seen many websites which are newly created but they are ranking at the top of the search engine ranking.

yes it affects page rank. domain age only determines the period of the domain and also the site. it is considered as one of the important factor in PR. to know the age of your domain there are many sites available. also you can know the age of the domain from who is tool. you domain registry date will be displayed while checking it. with the help of that you can determine the age of the domain. i checked my domain age from WhoisXY.com

Hi there, The domain age is built up how long the content has been actually on the web, how long the site has been in promotion and even the last time content was updated. So the age of domain is affect on its ranking. If you are having an old domain name, that adds more credibility to your search engine rankings, especially Google gives more importance to domain. Thanks a lot Richard Smith ------------------------------------- Online Reputation Management
