Does anyone else have time-out issues ("resume generator") with xml-sitemaps.com's downloadable version and if so, how did you fix it? In the xml-sitemaps forum the developer says "it looks like your server configuration doesn't allow to run the script long enough to create full sitemap. Please try to increase memory_limit and max_execution_time settings in php configuration at your host (php.ini file) or contact hosting support regarding this." Can anyone advise how to do this?  Thanks!

Your blogname /atom.xml is your sitemap so suppose if you have a blog : abc.blogspot.in so your sitemap will be abc.blogspot.in/atom.xml

As recommended xml-sitemaps[dot]com is really great, simple and easy to use widely.
But it will generate sitemap only for website with less than 500 pages.

Apart from all as described Xenu link is a most useful software where you can create a sitemap for n number of links or a ecommerce website (website with more than 500 pages)

It also help you in tracking whole link analysis for your website with any type of errors like broken links, broken images and lot more.

Try once and you will find it much beneficial.

I will suggest you to download GSiteCrawler for Windows. It's a desktop application and is very helpful for creating sitemaps. And its also free. You can have the record of all your sitemap within your system. It also provide broken links. With free version of xml-sitemaps.com there is a limitations of number of URLs (500 only) to create a sitemap and you have to pay for larger sites. While with GsiteCrawler you can create sitemaps for sites having thousands of urls.

Also, you can use Xenu link sleuth for creating Google Sitemap. This is also a very good tool to create sitemap as well as check for broken links and external links on your site.
