Making money on advertising is a very hard thing to do.  Well, it is easy to slap a few ads on - but getting enough people to click those ads to where it earns you some cash, that is the tricky part.  What type of web site do you have?

I would highly suggest reading through this web site:

They have a lot of great posts on how to make web sites turn a profit (even though, more focused at blogging).  Hope it helps!

It's really difficult to answer your question mind.

If you just look for it that your sites are selfsustaining it shouldn't be a problem. But be aware of clickfraud. You can't ask people to click the ads when you are a publisher for a ad network.

I started out bad, I used adsense years ago when I didn't had traffic and basicly no members. So I switched and tried several out ... oh what a nightmare ...

Best one which I've been using for aprox 6 months was adtoll. Slowly I started adding back in google adsense and changing adtolls weight value untill I got basicly rid of them.

Now why is Adtoll good for starters.

Payout is only at $20
You can accept sponsord ads (basicly selling adspace on your site) I sold at 20 cent/week in the old days but it worked... at a certain point I had a pool of 150 sponsord ads running for 12 weeks.  Next to that there are also Run On Network Ads, just like adsense you get paid per click.

But ok, selling ad space is worthless if you don't have traffic. Best is trying to invest your time in promoting your site(s). The more unique visitors and traffic you get the more clicks/day you can expect.

Another trick is volume!!  You could have A LOT of sites that produce moderate income.  You'd be doing good in the end Wink

There's money, and then there's money. While I'm certainly not making a living from advertising, I average a bit more than a dollar a day from Google, which pays for my hosting and then some. (The first 2 links in my sig- the 3rd is a non-profit affair).

Let me tell you one thing first.  No smart person will show you their website if it makes great money, and especially if it's through a unique way.  If you find a good money making method that stands out in the crowd, you won't tell other people.  It's as simple as that.  A few have done that and it has cost them almost everything.  Things get leecked and all of a sudden there's too much competition to make the same profit.

That being said, search "Black Hat World" in Google.  If you don't like black-hat stuff, go through their white-hat forums.  There is a wealth of information on how to make money.  Another thing I will tell you is that Google Adsense is probably your worst option.  Get into a few affiliate networks and start matching up offers with your site content.  It will give you a far greater ROI and you will not be giving away your visitors to all those targetted content website that Google Adsense puts up.  Think about it, those Google ads are super targetted.  Where do you think your visitors are going?

I hope this helps a bit.  I'm currently in the process of writing a 100+ page book on money making methods that I have discovered over the past few years.  Some have made me good money.  I will post a link to the book when/if it's ready.

You can really earn instant cash from affiliate website, start creating your own affiliate site and use the advantage of PPC to promote it in search engine. You can also do blogging because it is one of the most common way to earn cash.
