is a mystery to me!

I have submitted my site using the submit form. I have waited a reasonable period of time (I joined in december) for them to auto-index, which happened on my other site after only a week or so (here it is)

by the way... did new smileys just get installed?!  "[balloon]"

The URL in your post doesn't seem to have much on it but a short message, so I went to http://www.zorfox.net/ and saw your site. What website are you reffering your question to now? Are you asking why http://www.zorfox.net/ is not indexed? If so, I am not exactly sure. It should be indexed sooner or later, but one thing that might be causing it is that you have your main text in a separate table. I don't know if that matter, but it might have something to do with it.

Please clearify your question and I might have some better answers. Good luck  "[Smile]"

I am talking about www.zorfox.net. The other one was my old page, which simply says now 'go to zorfox.net' in a few more words. I icluded that because that one was indexed by Google a while ago. Anyway, one of my favorite sites (www.wheresgeorge.com) is entirely inside frames.

I checked the 'last 300 visitors' report on cpanel, and it even said googlebot had visited. So WHY?!

If you have not done so already put a link to your new site at the top of your old GeoCities page.

When google next spiders your old site it will follow the link and index your new site.

There is also another code that i think you can use, which has the name robot involved. Some search engines like google use robots, to find thier requests, these operate on metatags and without metatags, you may aswell not have submitted your site to the search engine.    "[talker]"

Your site is in google, under old content.  Google will cache indexed pages.  It's just a matter of the bot getting around to you.  If you submitted in december, you can probably try again.  Don't resubmit to Google within less than 3 months or so, I've been told.  It also helps to submit to other search engines.

About the only free submission website left that is worth its salt that Iknow of, is at

Here is a list of places you can submit, most of them for free:
 Submit

Even if some web directories don't get much traffic, the link still helps for placement in Google.

Google spiders look only for meta tags.
I visited your site and found a very nice advertisment for frontpage in there, but no tags that tell the bots what your site is about.

If there is no site description in the meta tags the Google bot will simply ignore it, no matter how many times you submit your site.

This is what you currently have in your tags:

code:
<meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-us">
<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 5.0">
<meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">

It would be better to remove this and go to  Net Mechanic.Com
There you will find a tutorial and a free tag generator.
Another great place for help is  http://www.bravenet.com
They have a free submitter, and a meta tag generator.

Hope this helps   "[Smile]"

If you go to ineedhits.com.
Remember to set up a free email account there to use in your submissions.
Whatever you do, do not use your main email address or it will be spammed badly.
ineedhits have their own addresses set up specially for that reason.

Google spiders look only for meta tags.

That isn't true.  Meta-tags are one small part of what Google looks for.  If you search on Google the majority of the time the description of a site is actually content from the site rather than the description meta-tag.  So its really important that you have loads of good textual keyword heavy content on your pages.

With regards to getting listed links to your site help.  If you have plenty of links then you don't need to bother with submitting as the Google spider will get to your site via the links.  Good quality links also help your rankings.

Adi

PS your site doesn't appear to be working right now, which certainly won't help you to get listed  Smile

Crazylady - Google spiders look only for meta tags

This is true...without metatags, Google will never list you. The two main tags needed are <meta name="description" content="a description of your site goes here"> and <meta name="keywords" content="keywords that search engines will use to display your site go here">. The description tag is the tag search engines such as Google use to display comments about your site in a search, whereas the keywords tag is the words the search engine will use to actually pull your site up in a search. The other main tag used is your Title tag, which will be the name of your listing within the search. Without these you will never be listed. Proof? Go to Google, search for anything you want. open up a page and then view source for that page. You will not find one site on Google that does not have these tags. The only links that might not follow this rule are the sponsored links at the top of the page.

Don't want this to turn into a slanging match or anything but meta tags are a fraction of what Google uses to index a site and certainly aren't a prerequisite of entry into their index.

Google places far more emphasis on content and backward links.  After all you can make up your own keywords without requiring them to have any relevance to your site.  You can't do that with content.

It's true. I don't want to disagree and upset people, but I have many pages on my website which have no meta tags at all, and are still indexed...

point taken stephen here's a link that will clear up a little. Some of the details have changed since I last looked at it http://www.searchenginewatch.com/webmasters/article.php/2167891

I also noticed that your site ugllypeople didn't have any meta tags but I also tried to pull it up in a search and could never find it. Have you been able to find it and if so how? I've seached terms on google and gone 20 pages deep trying to find a link without metatags and haven't found one yet. If you have an exception I would really like to see it so I could figure out why it works. What I'm getting at is that it's one thing to be listed, but a completely different thing to actually come up in a search. If anyone has a page without metatags that comes up in a google search please show it to me. Thanks
