Is there anything on your website that might be against Google's rules causing your website to get banned? It's a slim possibility that this might be your case, but it just might.

Be aware that Google is using a new method of crawling and listing website so that might impact your site. A lot of people have been experiencing weird things with Google lately, and most people don't have exact answers to their questions because of this change that Google is making with their service.

If you read this thread http://www.lunarforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5381 you will see that this person is also had a weird situation with Google regarding it listings.

by Google. But I did change the key words a little yesterday in my index page, but only word change, the basic content is still the same. Is it possible that Google knows my change immediately?

Most likely not. Google won't crawl your website everyday unless it's popular and your content changes on a daily basis. An example of this is a news website which changes its headlines often.

Most regular sites get crawled towards the end and beginning of each month and sometimes the bots only crawl your front page and don't go deep into your website.

I wouldn't worry about this too much. Google will be back and pick you up again eventually.

My own site over the last few weeks has gone from rank 14 to 150 to 12 to 8 yesterday and 17 today for the terms "politics forum".

Like Coon said, Google is being weird lately.

This isn't really weird, it's just the "Google Dance".  When Google starts recalculating page rankings, the rank for any page can jump all over the place.  After a few days it usually settles back down.

One thing you will notice once Google knows about your site is that they come and visit a few pages almost every day.  This could cause any particular page to show up on the rankings for a while, but the rank will likely change again when Google does a mass recompute.

I really think that Google was being "weird" at that time. They were doing a special kind of crawling and did things that were very unusual. If it was a normal Google Dance I would have not called it weird, but at the time the thread starter asked about his issue, Google was doing things a bit differently, therefore I called it weird.

Regarding your second comment, let me just add something. Google doesn't visit all sites, or certain pages of all sites. They only do that with some websites such as News webpages that update on a daily basis. Google does not go to sites every day that stay same most of the time. It's only the sites that get updated a lot that get new crawlings daily or weekly.

I should have been more clear on that statement.  What I meant was that Google would visit a few different pages on the site almost every day.  Rather then completely crawling the site every one or two months, it appears their crawler tries to take just a few pages at a time.  Much more polite.

On the weird factor of the "Google Dance", that may have been about the time I was seeing some changes on my site show up in the index within 48 hours of being crawled.  Perhaps they were testing a more incremental site update technique vs the usual mass crawl and calculate.  Who really knows what goes on in the bowls of the Google engine?
