Looks cool to me. ...and a Lunarpages site to boot.  Cool!

Are the submittable fields and "extras" customizable - as in us deciding what info to include and not include?

I want to keep it simple...like showing the username, website(s) (allowing for multiple sites), brief description...and I do like the idea of a submittable picture of a maximum size.

I don't like the extra stuff like "write review" & "recommend it", though.  Can it be bare bones without the extras?

One thing I'm rarely accused of is being unpredictable :)

Thanks a million, Garvey. I'm thrilled that you're taking an interest.

Where do we go from here?  Can you make up something to show me before I incorporate it to my site?

And I know I asked before but can't help but ask again: Would we need to be diligent about updates (for security reasons) when using this script?

I'm so cautious about it because I got burnt when I was using the phpBB and did not update it promptly.  One of my sites got hacked and the public_html folder got dumped.
Would "set it and forget it" be a good phrase to use to describe this script?

Thanks again, Garvey!
Rick.

we could ask Amy what topspotz is like for updates :P

plus i could host it on my moderators accounr and i'll do any updates if you like?

ifit got to the point whereit had quite a lot of sites on then i could setup a cron backup so we wouldnt lose anything if it did get hacked.

It's not like I've done it to bring attention to myself - but did it just because I wanted to be able to see everyone's sites...so if you'd want to host it yourself, that would be great!

I have 2 requests, though, that I'd ask you to consider:

1. somehow stop people from putting Affiliate Links on it, and
2. allow anyone to add others' sites to it.

The reason for #2 is that clearly only a small few of us are active on LunarForums, so many won't even see reference to it.  I'd like the option of allowing others (including moi, of course  :) ) to continue to add to it...the only requisite being that it has to be a site referenced either on a Members Profile, or in a post like we see at 'Your Websites & Creations'.

...am I gettin' too picky or demanding  :?

Another couple of things, Garvey:

1. Since you as a mod can see things that regular members cant see, let's not populate the page with info you see as a mod.

2. There are no doubt former LP customers still on the member list...folk whose site is now with another Host.  Is there any way to confirm a site is hosted by LP before putting it on the page?

As for this 2nd issue, it's really not a concern for me personally, but since you would be doing it as a mod, might there be some conflict of interest if a site no longer hosted by LP got on the page?

the reason i said to host it on my mod acount is so that you didn't waste any of your space, when my moderators account has lots of space left on it, as for stuff like afilliate links and stuff, it could be made so that all links have tobe ok'd by someone, in which case i could set accounts up for me, you and any other LF'ers who want to help.

that way a whois could be done on the domains, and any affilliate links could be declined. (allthough i could just bake it auto decline afiliate links somehow)

i dont actually see much more than a standard member on LF apart from a users IP address and e-mail address.

i can't see it being a problem with someone else adding lots of other peoples sites.

i'm not sure what you meant by...

although the easy way out is to say i wasn't doing this as a mod but as a LP customer?

1. Space is not the issue for me...security and maintenance are the only concerns:
If it is truly set it and forget it - and easy to maintain - I've got plenty of space.

I'm guessing you can set it up faster than you can walk me through it, so if you're really happy to do it I'm thrilled that you would.

2. As for the quoted part, I think you get the gist of what I was saying...but a mute point if the sites were verified to be LP sites before putting them on the page.

i would be happy to set it up for you, it does need a MySQL database backend to, is that ok?

1.  Pending the upgrade to a page that allows user submissions, I'll continue to add sites when I have some "spare minutes" (yea, right, whose got  "spare time"  :( )
We're up to 141: http://www.jackson8.com/lfsites

2. Garvey, are you thinking PHP TopSites from http://www.aardvarkind.com is the way to go?
