Portfolio website. Looking for some constructive advice.
« on: January 10, 2015, 09:06:51 PM »
This is my first post. My portfolio is a school project. I may have designed it totally different, but it sort of came together as we went through each new software. I will add links when I create more professional looking websites. For now I just want to show I understand the programs and to show a variety of artwork.
Thanks for checking it out! www.marycgraphics.com

I had some feedback on my website so I re-did it. Let me know if this format is better. This is my second website and I learned so much redoing it! :smiling:

It's a little bit old school simple  design, nicely chosen colors, and I like it.  :smiling:

If you are going to have a fixed width page, I would suggest centering it rather than letting it sit over on the left. Also, the diagonal menu bars should bleed off the right and bottom edges, rather than visually end. There's a translucent brown bar at the bottom -- is is supposed to be doing something?

The gold/brown band at the bottom serves no purpose other than I liked the colour and was trying to balance and tie in the colours.  The chevron type navigation bars were meant to be show through the band because I wanted to use a transparency affect that I had learned in class. So beside design, I was trying to show examples of everything I learned. Thanks for the centering suggestion. And yeah the bars would look better to fit to the edges, but between the different browsers it wasn't lining up perfect enough
