This is actually a revamp of another domain I host with lunarpages.

Why changing domain name is mainly due to the previously bad domain name (criminalexistence.com) which didn't reach the market segment without hefty advertising.

So we became MakeWebGames.com

With this change we opted to revamp the community fully.

We opted to use the Woltlab Community Framework (WCF) as core and Woltlab Burning Board (WBB) as forum engine.

Why using WCF ? WCF offers us much more freedom than simply a forum engine like smf, phpBB, IPB, vBulletin etc ...

With the use of WCF we can now have easy without much hassle all our other sites revamped and having one main user base. Members have only to register once and can login at every site we have.

The best part is that the Woltlab Community Framework is free (WBB is not).

So by using WCF as core we where able to make a simple portal at www.criminalexistence.com our community at www.makewebgames.com a wiki at www.makewebgames.com/mccode/index.php and more gets revamped as we speak.

Having only one register/login process for all sites should in theory increase also the functionality of our members.

There where however some troubles in converting old faithfull smf to wbb as a converter from smf 2.x RC to wbb 3.0.9 wasn't available. But we managed it to convert all members, posts etc yet the encrypted passwords was a problem but this got also pretty easy solved and members didn't had to request a new password for the new board.

Anyway interested in making browsergames or develop modifications for various browsergame engines (free/paid) have a look at www.makewebgames.com

If interested version 3.1 of WBB is even better than 3.0.9 combines loads of social network features inside a forum. For a limited time people can test it out. http://www.woltlab.com/volcano/download-en.html

But helas not going to install a RC anymore, learned my lesson with using smf RC on a productive site. So patiently waiting for 3.1

WBB lite contains also WCF in the package and is fully free http://www.woltlab.com/products/burning_board_lite/index_en.php

The only downside that the Woltlab Community Framework (WCF) has is that majority of info to be found on the net is in German. Yet it's a great tool designed for multi applications.
