After seeing 4images used on several sites I am familiar with, I decided to give it a shot on my own domain. Between browsing through these forums and those over at the 4images site, most of the basic installation managed to be a breeze for me.

However, I've gone dead in the water and was wondering if anyone else has been in this situation before. The error message I'm continually receiving is this:

Quote
Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user: 'mysite_admin@localhost' (Using password: YES) in /home/mysite/public_html/4images/includes/db_mysql.php on line 39

DB Error: Could not connect to the database server (localhost, mysite_admin).

Admittedly, my familiarity with MySQL and sundry related things isn't huge just yet, but I'd like to think that most of the obvious things were checked. And, uh, I'm still having issues. Suggestions? Criticisms? Anything would be appreciated at this point.

Thanks in advance.

Please make sure you've followed all the steps here:
http://www.lunarforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21575

Specifically, make sure you have added the user to the database.

Already done. I agonized over that part a bit before common sense kicked in, and yet the error message keeps on truckin'. Is there anything else that would contribute to the problem?

Is the name of the db user really 'admin'? Does it match existing user in your mysql list in cpanel?

No, I was just filling in the blanks as an example for the actual thing. The information for the real database & user, when I input it to the 4images form, does match what I've got running with Lunarpages. It's all a bit strange, as I can't quite grasp what's off course here, y'know?

Because the 4images message boards aren't being very helpful, and despite uninstalling/reinstalling the files, I'm still getting the same problem... Just what password should I be using for the database password? I was assuming that it would be the same as my domain password with Lunarpages, as when setting up the MySQL database it did not require a password (just for the user). Is that right?

Similarly, the admin information that's required on the second half of the 4images installer is info that doesn't pre-exist, correct? I'd assumed that I was creating it on the spot, but was not sure.

Getting this set up would be great, if it weren't for the getting there part.

The database password is different from the cpanel and gallery password.

To set it up, go here:
http://www.lunarforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21575

and read on how to set up a database user.

Thanks for the link. I checked it out, went through all the steps, but with the exception of messing about with access hosts (not needed in my case), I didn't notice any steps that I'd actually left out before. My database it already created, as it my database user, and the two have already been tied together.

Sorry to be dense, but how exactly am I determining the database password? The tutorial you provided told me that I'd already gone through the right steps, but obviously I'm still missing something.

You set the database password when you create the db user.

I had the same problem yesterday. Finally, I had the server install it using Fantastico and all is well.  Applause Don't know why. It installed OK on another webhost server last week. Give it a try!
