hello all...

I've attempted once using fantastico and custom themes/images to install the latest release of coppermine as a standalone under my root directory /gallery and failed miserably with so many php code errors I don't even know where to begin...

now I'd like to attempt to install the coppermine gallery again only so that it is bridged with the phpBB board like my chatroom and will recognize a user (no re-registering required)...

I'm curious as to whether or not there are some of you here on the lunarforum who are genuine experts w/ coppermine gallery... if so I'd like to just ask for some advice and the best way to install the gallery into my additional database...

also I'd like to use this thread to report errors I have during the installation... the support staff in the coppermine gallery forums have been absolutely useless in helping me to troubleshoot previous problems so I fully uninstalled the gallery and tables, and just want to start over clean, and bridge the gallery if possible...

my site uses php 6.5 and the latest upgrade of phpBB as a nuke module...

any tutorials on doing this, freelance programmer help (paid or otherwise), or a wakthrough of how to accomplish this would be much appreciated... I will be using the custom theme "black widow" w/ my gallery as it fits the "darker" nature of my website...

thanks in advance for your time,
-GF

My recommendation is a manual install rather than Fantastico.  One advantage is that you can use the same database.  I am currently bridging to phpBB but NOT using nuke.

Check the coppermine site http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/ for the the latest download and installation instructions.  See if this helps.

What I want to know is how to SEND PICTURES TO COPPERMINE once it's installed in the web page.

Hi mikebrooks,

Did you read the manual? Basically, you need to create albums, and use batch upload to put the pictures into the albums.

Godflesh777,

Please review your comments in the coppermine forums... (It might explain why supporters are reluctant to help you. However, they have helped you.)

Yes, I did. I do not know what "batch upload" means. Is this FTP?

Yes, you would use FTP to upload your files and add them in batches. It's called batch add because the alternative is single-file add which would be quite tedious. Wink http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/manual.php#batch_add_pics

I know it's tough to remember when you didn't know how this stuff worked. I can say simply that the docs are inadequate. That's why a user group is the main attraction of any software -- the docs hardly ever do a good job.

Man, I gave up on that kinda thing a while back. Now I use e107, which allows you to add Coppermine (among other things) via e107 control panel without ever visiting your mySQL database. Just upload & go, daddy-o.

My old host, I had 3 mySQL databases and 1/10th the support. But it was 238765 times the work getting everything to work seamlessly.
