I was wondering, what happens if at the same time I'm backing up my forum's database someone makes a post in my forum. Will that screw up my database?

As you can see, I have no clue how this stuff works.

Nope.  That's one of the nice things about a database engine.  The record inserted with the new post more than likely did not make it into the backup though Wink

As a sidenote, optimize your tables regularly.
