Hi all -

I'm trying to do a Joomla installation on a new account with a dedicated IP address. I created a new db (actually several times to try and get after this issue), and then inputted that info into the joomla install process. Joomla won't connect to the db regardless of how I tweak it.

Now, this is the odd part of the configuration... . The Primary domain for this account has not been transferred over to LunarPages yet. I'm waiting on the client to send me the existing site files or upload the files to Lunarpages himself, so for the time being, the URL points to the existing servers. However, this installation is in a separate directory for a new add-on domain that resolves just fine.  Would this affect the db connection?

I've tried "localhost" as well as the IP address for the db hostname, but nothing seems to work.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks,
Herb

It shouldn't affect it. Are you on Cpanel or LPCP? For cpanel the db hostname should be "localhost". For LPCP it should be "lpsql01.lunariffic.com".

SOLVED

This account is on a new server which requires a separate IP address for the mySQL db, instead of just being able to specify "localhost." I missed the documentation on this, but quick call to support cleared it up.
