I am working on a website where one goal is to password protect one part of the blog.  I do not know enough about how the files interact to know if that is possible.  It is the actual "blog" page that is to be behind the password with most of the other pages public.

Is it possible or should I run 2 installs of Wordpress? and if so, can the second one just be in a separate folder or should it be in a subdomain?

If you're using Wordpress you can mark any post or page as either password protected or private.

Scanman,

Thank you for your reply. I am sorry I did not see it before now.    Whoops   I did not realize I could password protect any page or any post.  I'll look into that!

Thank you so much!
