Hi all,

I remember reading somewhere that since we only have one db with the shuttle plan we can only install one program with Fantastico and then should install any other programs manually.  I noticed in the cpanel that there is a Scripts Library where you can install phpbb.  Can this be used to install phpbb after Fantastico has already been used to install something like Mambo for example?  Or would I still have to install phpbb manually?

Just about any auto-installer requires an unused database. That's what makes them easy to use; they create the database and everything for you. If you then want them to instead install into an existing database, that would require having to revamp things.

It's also a liability issue. If an auto install messes up on a fresh database, that's not too bad. But imagine it killing the rest of an existing database. Not worth the hassle, from the autoinstaller developer's point of view.

Hmmmm, OK I'm just a noob at all this so I'm terrified of trying to do a manual install of anything.   Wink

If I was going to install one program with an autoinstaller and then install the others manually, which program should I install automatically?  In other words, which is harder to install manually?  Mambo or phpbb?

Thx for the help.   Smile

I don't think it matters. Both programs are pretty easy to install manually. I have both installed on my computer and the process was mostly automated for both programs. If you get stuck, you can always ask for help here.

I hope this helps. Thumbs Up

Or you can install SMF for forums instead. I installed it recently and it was really easy.
