Hello,
I have installed Wordpress into the root directory and SMF into its own folder under dog-forums.

I am trying to make my SMF my frontpage/index.php and wordpress into another directory.

Anyone know the easiest way for a noob to do this? Maybe some htaccess rewrites?

Thanks!

Might try adding this to your .htaccess file:

Code:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^$ /dog-forums/ [R=301]

Hello Mitch,
What will this do?

I had a different rewrite given by the helpdesk and all it did was rewrite my smf forum to

doggeekz.com/index.php

but my wordpress would not show up since it is originally index.php so that forum would only come up.

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks

Yeah, might be a little more difficult if you want both active - might have to move your WordPress and then do the redirect.

There are 3 different methods the cpanel/back up. Is a home back up enought for a screw up in public_html?

Ahha, very smart - always a good idea to backup.  Thumbs Up  There are a couple of tutorials you can follow along with here:

Full backup should get both files and databases, which is what you would want for WordPress, since it is database powered.
