I guess my question is two parts:

1. Can individual BB pages be password protected using some kind of PHP code (for example by checking for a username/password in a MySQL database)?

2. Is there a way to populate a MySQL database with usernames/passwords that can be used with Lunarpages file level (Apache) security?  I guess this question is not specific to BB's but any page.

Sure.  There's lots of php authorization schemes out there using mysql lookups.

As for the boards, it can get a bit tricky especially if you are going to have sessions running (kinda need them for authorization schemes) because there's already a login session going, and I've seen people say it keeps asking for authorization on successive page views.  The sessions are obviously different, so I'm not sure as to why that happens.
