Anyone do the 2.0.15 upgrade yet and did it go smoothly?

Hi scanman20,  Yes, I got mine updated. It all went smoothly. Just irritated about having to reapply the quick reply mod AGAIN. Thank goodness that my board is not heavily modded.

I only ran into one problem and it was with the admin login. Apparently it's a pretty widespread issue if you look at http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=288321. Thankfully I hacked a workaround but so far phpbb doesn't have an official reason as to why this happens. Sigh. Confused

I've been very lucky and not run into that situation. I just doublechecked and I am able to get into my admin area successfully. Honestly I didn't do anything more than their directions said to do. I was working with the changed files, not the patch files, and upgrading from 2.0.14 to 2.0.15

I am currently testing the SMF board - mainly for the ease of updating. Trying to get an idea of how well my forum users would take the switch if I changed everything over. I've been impressed with the ease of setting SMF up. Spending a bit of time figuring out how to modify and add some buttons to SMF, plus updating the logos, etc. No final decision has been made about whether to switch over, but I am certainly leaning that way.

I followed the upgrade instructions as Johnny listed them and my board and only mod, mail2forum, worked perfectly. After I ran the upgrade php I got a message reminding me to delete the install directory. I did what I was told and all is happy.

I was going from 2.013 to 2.015

Thanks for great install help!

Well, phpBB has done a decent job of getting the updates out quickly, before it
wreaks too much havoc. The problem is upgrading, however all the recent upgrades have been minor, and very few changes made to very few files.

One thing to keep in mind, like MS, phpBB is probably the largest distributed forum out, and therefore is the most sought after for finding vulnerabilities.

IMO, once SMF gains more  popularity, you will see vulnerabilities found in it as well. I'm in no way knocking SMF. I plan on installing it myself.  Smile

BTW, I have updated the tutorial for manually upgrading phpBB, which can be found here: http://www.lunarforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=16952

Thanks for keeping them up to date guys.  Very Happy
We have a script that will now be disabling the old phpBB scripts so if you didn't update yet, please make sure you do so as soon as possible.
