When I install wordpress using fantastico, the install  completes fine... however... when I go to the installed directory with my web browser, I only get a directory listing of files.

I don't think this is actually a wordpress issue but rather some sort of weird permission thing with my server.  I say this because I have successfully installed wordpress on another lunar server with no issues (so I am familiar with the process).

Here is where it has been installed:
webb.gowithamp.com

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated !  - note: the only thing I have ever changed is .httaccess file on the parent domain gowithamp.com - not sure if that  would really matter or not.

Thanks

edit - updates:
Just realized that I had a very similar if not the same issue about 3 years ago: http://www.lunarforums.com/third_party_scripts_and_services/new_to_lp_trouble_with_scripts-t34988.0.html;msg263316#msg263316

It was a "mod_security" issue...  Anyone know anything about that ??

Yes, the .htaccess file is a very important part of WordPress, and how it is installed - so that could have played a part in your issues.  Could you give us more information on the changes you made?  Also, without giving any user names or sensitive account information - could you let us know what is inside your .htaccess file for this specific location? webb.gowithamp.com

Hello... and thanks for the reply.

The only contents of  htaccess for the parent  site is:
DirectoryIndex index.shtml

The htaccess file for webb.gowithamp.com is completely empty.

Try putting this in the .htaccess file for the folder your subdomain is hosted in/under:

Code:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>

I would recommend dropping an e-mail to support@lunarpages.com or submit a help desk ticket, so the official support team gurus can take a look, in that case.  They'll be able to see more of what is going on inside the account from that side, than we can here.

If you have not yet heard back from support yet, try putting a file called .htaccess into webb and then add to it:

DirectoryIndex index.php

Should resolve the issue, as I am thinking it possibly is caused by the .htaccess in your primary domain name.  Doing the above SHOULD override for the folder you have done the install to.

If that did it, then more then likely the .htaccess in your public_html folder was propagating to the subfolders.

In that case, even putting in a blank .htaccess may help, but better to put in the code lol
