Hello everyone,
I am somewhat experienced with Linux in general but new as to what precautions are to be followed when it is running in Virtuozzo.

I already know about never updating udev and have added it to exclude in yum.conf.

Are there any more packages that should never be touched when updating ? (I already know not to touch the kernel).

Any yum use in Virtuozzo is something you do at your own risk. This is why it is not installed by default in VPS, and is recommended for use only to experience users. My recommendation would be always backup the VPS via VZPP before doing any software change (you have one backup slot for that) and updating/installing packages and their dependencies that are really needed for your server to operate as per your needs.
