First, I want to thank LunarPages for allowing me to test the Windows VPS. To put my comments in perspective - I was a high school computer science teacher, & now I do client PCs, & maintain two Novell servers for the Supreme Court of New Mexico. I also have my Friends & Family site, a blog (which I haven't had time to keep up), & a site I maintain for a friend all on Lunar Pages.
When I got the VPS, everything was working. I had no problems logging in, or getting started. I'd never seen Plesk; so I spent time going through the menus, & discovered I could do much of what I wanted by using the Plesk menus, & the remote console. The VPS restarts easily from the Plesk panel - you know how windows likes it's reboots....
In going through the event viewer, I saw php hadn't started, & the message was to try increasing the virtual memory, which I did, & it loaded. Also, the default site needed to have the php extension added to the list of extensions.
DrWeb didn't have the rights to start up; so I enabled an automatic startup, & no longer get those errors in the event viewer.
It seemed odd I couldn't create a MySQL data base for the default website without first creating another phony virtual site (I must be missing something easy). Once I created the database, I could install Joomla.
Hottproxy, which allows cell phones to connect to the Internet, installed & ran without a problem.
phpMyAdmin is the only thing I can see at the moment which's not working.
So far, this has been a very good experience. I also went through the VPS tutorials on LunarPages. I think this will be a good product. I would recommend a sort of day one, getting started, putting up the first page tutorial, for the Windows VPS.
