Hello,
I am in the process of upgrading from the Basic Plan to the VPS Plan. My upgrade reason is I am using too much CPU resources for the Basic Plan. I have only used the services such as cPanel and my CuteFTP Pro program for managing my sites. Now I understand I will be using Plesk. I have started reading the different resources I could find regarding Plesk and I am sure I will get the basics of it all learned soon enough. What I am curious about is I see there is an additional charge of $9.99 / month for "
Managed Solutions" from Lunar Pages. What exactly is this service? I cannot seem to find a complete list of all the things I will be getting with the VPS Plan. I have read the Linux Virtual Private Server (
http://www.lunarpages.com/virtual-private-server/) page as well as the Windows Virtual Private Server page. I have read the Lunar Pages Wiki on VPS but still I have this huge question mark floating above my head. I am starting to get concerned that I am going to have to basically learn all this stuff just to get my site running again. On the Basic Plan I just uploaded my files and away I went. On this VPS Plan, once I upload my files, will my site work? I read that I will have to register my domain name as a server? As you can see, I am basically lost. I just wish there was a section that I could read that explained it from a complete moron's perspective on how to transfer a basic web site from a Basic Plan to a VPS Plan.
I am sure I will be following up with people on this thread for a few days until I start to feel a bit more at ease with my upgrade decision.
Thanks,
Steve
