Hello,
I am in the process of upgrading from the Basic Plan to the VPS Plan. My upgrade reason is I am using too much CPU resources for the Basic Plan. I have only used the services such as cPanel and my CuteFTP Pro program for managing my sites. Now I understand I will be using Plesk. I have started reading the different resources I could find regarding Plesk and I am sure I will get the basics of it all learned soon enough. What I am curious about is I see there is an additional charge of $9.99 / month for "Managed Solutions" from Lunar Pages. What exactly is this service? I cannot seem to find a complete list of all the things I will be getting with the VPS Plan. I have read the Linux Virtual Private Server (http://www.lunarpages.com/virtual-private-server/) page as well as the Windows Virtual Private Server page. I have read the Lunar Pages Wiki on VPS but still I have this huge question mark floating above my head. I am starting to get concerned that I am going to have to basically learn all this stuff just to get my site running again. On the Basic Plan I just uploaded my files and away I went. On this VPS Plan, once I upload my files, will my site work? I read that I will have to register my domain name as a server?  As you can see, I am basically lost. I just wish there was a section that I could read that explained it from a complete moron's perspective on how to transfer a basic web site from a Basic Plan to a VPS Plan.

I am sure I will be following up with people on this thread for a few days until I start to feel a bit more at ease with my upgrade decision.

Thanks,
Steve

Hope this definition helps some. Smile  Managed Lite - Managed Lite is available for Virtual Private servers. It starts at $9.99 per month and we will monitor your server 24/7/365.  For other server side technicalities, you might shoot over an e-mail to vps@lunarpages.com so our VPS admins can help you with those.

Thank you Mitch but that doesn't tell me much. You have given me the name of the "Managed Solution" but I still do not understand what Lunar Pages does for the $9.99 per month? "We will monitor your server 24/7/365", okay does that mean a person is sitting in a little room staring at the server? j/k But seriously, what is the customer getting for that 10 bucks?

Hi Swiker,

Managed Lite addon is the only one of managed addons family available on VPS plan and as Mitch mentioned it includes 24/7/365 monitoring of your VPS. This means that the VPS and the common important services on it such as SMTP, HTTP, MySQL will be added into Lunarpages monitoring system and in case any alert appears for your VPS system administrators on duty will be taking a pro-active action to fix them.

Thank you both for the information. I have talked it over with my partners and we've decided to not upgrade to the VPS plan at this time. I do appreciate you both taking the time to answer me on my question. If we decide in the future to upgrade at least we'll know what the Managed Solution is all about.
