I need to block some harmful IP's but I'm uneducated as far as webservers and administration goes.  I found within the PLESK environ a firewall option to create custom rules.  I created a custom rule to deny some specific IP's.  Seems pretty simple.  When I activate the rule I get this error:

Error: Could not activate firewall configuration:

safeact: safeact: /usr/local/psa/var/modules/firewall/firewall-new.sh failed:
iptables: No chain/target/match by that name

proc_close() failed: var: Deprecated. Please use the public/private/protected modifiers

Can someone make a suggestion of how to successfully block he IP's, keep in mind I just switched from basic to VPS account and have no skills.

Thanks

Hi,

Firewall is the best place to block bad IPs and network ranges. The error you got means that some IPTables modules are not activated for your VPS. Please contact the support and ask to enable the modules. You will be able to use Plesk firewall management interface to block specific IPs and networks after that.

I hope this helps.

OK I will ask them to do that.

I got this response this morning, still cannot enable any firewall rules

The iptables modules required to be active for the firewall module have been
activated however your firewall policy was still giving the same error. We are
continuing to troubleshoot this issue and will update you once we have more
information.

Are there any more options?  This is critical, I'm getting a DoS attack from a select group of IP's.  There has to be some way to block them.

Thanks

Hi,

I've replied to the ticket. Please try to modify the firewall configuration now and update the ticket if you are still getting any errors.
