I have some previous experience with linux but just enough to grasp the basics.

I'm trying to figure out how to install PDFTK on my new LunarPages VPS account.

The accessPDF site says there is no binary for pdftk for CentOS, and I can't seem to make the rpm command work:

root@vps [/home/newce3/www/pdftk]# sudo rpmbuild --rebuild pdftk-1.12-0.src.rpm
Installing pdftk-1.12-0.src.rpm
warning: user bwalle does not exist - using root
error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES/pdftk-1.12.tar.bz2;45de399f: cpio: read
error: pdftk-1.12-0.src.rpm cannot be installed

this is going by the directions on the pdftk build page.

Can anyone tell me what my problem is, or if i'm even in the right ballpark here?  Thanks!

Have you tried http://www.dedicated@lunarpages.com/ ? They may be able to help.

Hello,

It turns out that the src.rpm for pdftk is not well formed. Did you try installing binary rpm  for RedHat EL 4 (http://dag.wieers.com/rpm/packages/pdftk/pdftk-1.12-1.el4.rf.i386.rpm)? Centos is a rebuild of RHEL and this rpm should work for you.

I hope this helps.
