Hello All,

I just got a  'nix VPS account and I'm having problems connecting to the VPS with FTP.
I have not transferred a domain name so I'm using WS_FTP pro with the VPS IP address as the host.  All other WS_FTP settings are "default".

I am unable to connect - get the following error messages:
Error reading response from server.
Connection closed by remote host.
Host type (1): Automatic Detect

I'm using the ip address and the user/pass established in the Plesk control panel (Domains-DomainName-Setup).

Any suggestions?

Hi Rocky,

I would recommend to try another FTP client and play with PASSIVE and ACTIVE FTP modes. If another client is also not able to connect to the server, please contact the support at vps@lunarpages.com.

Hi perestrelka,

I tried and got similar results with the XP command line and Firefox ftp url.  Also played with the PASSIVE modes as well as a bunch of other settings.

Thanks for the support email addy - as of yesterday, the live 24/7 chat appears to be down and all of the LP phone numbers get forwarded to "full" mailboxes.

Resolution: Turns out there was a problem with the DNS setup on the VPS.  An email to support and 4 hours later the problem was resolved.

Outstanding!   Clapping
