Hello,

I recently moved from shared hosting package to the VPS hosting package (my sites were getting a lot of traffic.) I've been searching for information on installing Wordpress in VPS. Do I need to do a fresh install or am I able to simply transfer the files from the shared hosting package (I have access to those files) onto the new server. I'm new to VPS and it's completely different from CPanel. I have printed out the VPS manual and that has been extremely helpful.

Any information or links that you can supply would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Indrakshi,

First of all, LP admins can assist you with site migration for $75/hour fee. If you prefer to move the data by yourself, there are two ways you can use. First is transfer of all the files, re-importing DBs and correcting db login details in the php scripts. Second is reinstalling the scripts from scratch (like fresh wordpress install), dumping the db on the old host and importing on the new one.
