I upgraded from shared to VPS and have some problems.

Registering Nameservers: It seems I need 2 IPs to register NS1.mywebsite.com and NS2.mywebsite.com at the other hosting company... how do I solve this?

Transfering files:

I know I am supposed to transfer the files to the httpdocs folder, but what exactly do I transfer there?  right now on the shared plan, i have the public_html folder that has my domain/add on domain files.

FTP:

I used coffee cup direct ftp with my shared plan... can I use that with the vps?  I have just been using http://ftp://my.ip.address - I'm not sure how to transfer files in the web browser like this though.

Thanks for any help

If instructions on how to register your private name servers with your domain's registrar are not available at http://www.lunarforums.com/index.php/topic,27720.0.html, you would contact the registrar to get the instructions from them. It would be very helpful if you would post them on this forums after that.

You are supposed to transfer the files from public_html folder, if this was the only folder you uploaded data to. If there are any databases used by your site(s), you need to export them on the old server and import on the new one.

Yes, you will be able to use coffee cup programs with the VPS server. I would recommend to use a FTP manager to move the files. If your account is not big in size, download the files to your local PC and upload to the VPS then. For huge accounts, it would be better to download the site directly from VPS.

My personal choice is FileZilla which is free and available at http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/

I hope this helps.
