Two name servers on the same VPS.

Is it possible to have two name servers on the same VPS account?

Two name servers for two different domains on the same VPS. www.whatever.com the name server’s ns1.whatever.com and another account with its own cpanel, www.something.com with the nameservers ns1.something.com.

Just wondering if anyone has done this, or knows it can be done.

Thank you.

Hello Darren01,

Yes, it is possible. Although, actually the nameserver will be the same for the both domains.

In such scenario, you'll simply need to modify nameserver records in the domain's DNS zone after account creation and register private nameservers in another domain as well.

I hope this helps.

What if i got another Ip added onto the VPS, would this work.

If i had two Ip addresses on the same VPS, could i then have two main account on the one VPS with two nameservers?

Thank you.

Yes, you can. Using the way I described above. If you have an additional IP address on your VPS, you can use it as the second IP address to register the second private nameserver. Sometimes domain Registrars require more than one nameserver with separate IP address for domain.

You can host multiple accounts on your VPS with individual nameserver names, actually the nameserver will be the same though. The term "main account" is used for identification of your account in our management system and for hostname setup. It is not actual nowhere in Plesk.

Please post back if you have any additional questions.
