I'm new to VPS and I'm a little confused. I was hoping that someone could give me some links to great tutorials/books and recommendations.

In particular I am attempting to fix the "starting httpd: httpd: could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using server..." error. It appears I have to go in and edit the httpd.cof file but I have no editors installed and I have no idea how to install it?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks much,

You should have vi, at a minimum, installed. pico/nano should also be installed too.

If you have a CentOS VPS, you can always use: yum install <editorname> to install it, as most common editors are on the CentOS repositories.
