So.. my welcome email says that my nameserver is installed and configured.

I don't see bind running as a process though.. do I need to start it?

Looking through /etc/named.conf and /var/named, it doesn't look like it's been updated for my domain.  (the BIND documentation is a bit over my head though - I might just be misunderstanding something)

Also - I think my registrar is going to require two nameservers..  with only one IP, how will I get around this?

You’ll need to register your private name servers at your registrar. Then they can be used for all the domains you’d like to be pointed to VPS. To assist our clients with name server registration, we produced a tutorial available at:

yes, I am not concerned about how to register the nameserver with the registrar.

I am asking:

How can I confirm that my nameserver is correctly installed and configured? (it appears otherwise)

What will I use for the second nameserver? (a VPS has only one IP, and the welcome email only references one nameserver)

I'd like to know this as well.  I can't find any documentation anywhere on how to do this.  The only thing I found was for a dedicated server.
