Did you recently have the ability for new users to sign up, and just removed it? Check the LP news section for whether your server was just restored from a backup.
By the way, you can always open a ticket via the helpdesk page or via an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
. If the email you send from is not registered with LP as a support email, you'll have to provide information to prove who you are.
I'm not too familiar with WordPress (I don't have it installed), but I do get dozens of attempts each day for wp-login.php
from hackers and spammers. Sometimes they try other WP-related file names. I just add their IP addresses to a deny
list in my .htaccess. Perhaps they know of ways to get around any WP doors that are supposed to be shut for blog sign up. Make sure you're fully up to date on your WP installation (latest version), as WP is constantly closing holes in the product.
If WP doesn't have a "blacklist" for banning certain spammers, you'll have to use your control panel "deny" list, and manually add spammers to it.
