Internal Server Error, since Maintenance on Buckeye
« on: August 17, 2016, 03:01:54 PM »
My website (quantumrip.com) has been showing an internal server error, since maintenance, this morning. This happens on my main page, my forum, or just trying to directly access an image file.

Cpanel error log consistently shows the same error: /home/(user name)/public_html/.htaccess: Invalid command 'suPHP_ConfigPath', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration

Edited the part that shows my user name.

If it was working before, and you didn't change anything (such as the path to php.ini), and LP didn't make any announcement that they were removing suPHP, it sounds like something got messed up during maintenance (e.g., suPHP was not started). Before you open a ticket, make sure there's nothing illegal before that command, such as a now-forbidden (maybe) "Options" command or something like that.

I don't even know what suPHP is, let alone how check it for commands. The only thing PHP I've installed, is an unused PHPBB forum. Unless Softalicious installed it, with WordPress.

Okay, I'm poking around various things, but not changing any settings, yet. php.ini reads: auto_prepend_file = /home/(user name)/WP-LC/wp-lc.php

wp-lc.php being the file they used to force captcha onto my WordPress login page. (something I never wanted, I might add) But, I don't understand how this would effect attempts to access even individual files.

Still trying to get the figured out, despite the fact that I am neither a coder, nor an IT guy. I tracked down the .htaccess file, which doesn't seem to be visible, in the cPanel file manager.

Quote
# BEGIN WordPress

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>

RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]

# add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?wp-admin$ $1wp-admin/ [R=301,L]

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
RewriteRule ^ - [L]
RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) wp/$2 [L]
RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(.*\.php)$ wp/$2 [L]
RewriteRule . index.php [L]

</IfModule>

# END WordPress

suPHP_ConfigPath /home/(user name)/public_html/php.ini

It's pointing to exactly where php.ini is.

Your suPHP_ConfigPath entry is wrong. Change it to this and see if the error clears up:
Code: [Select]
suPHP_ConfigPath /home/(user name)/public_html

Tried removing the entire last line. The site worked, the forum didn't, whole thing ran slow, and it made my CPU and memory usage skyrocket. I put it back, to keep from bogging the whole server down, and probably getting my site suspended.

Your format (including /php.ini) was incorrect and I don't know why you got away with it for as long as you did. Perhaps the server hadn't been updated for a long time. Now, with that removed, are you sure that your reported error didn't change? Could it have been something now in php.ini, not .htaccess that was throwing an error? If the error is still reported to be in .htaccess, and your suPHP line is exactly as I showed you (with the correct account name, of course), then either you have something bogus in the WordPress stuff above it, or LP screwed up the upgrade/maintenance. You can try commenting out all the non-blank lines (with # ) in the WordPress section, and see if anything changes (your WP likely won't work right, now!). Offhand, I don't see any problems in the WP section, but it's possible that there's a subtle error. If that's not the problem, open a ticket, as it's something that LP needs to fix.

I'm assuming that you didn't make some silly editing error when adding or changing the suPHP_ConfigPath entry, perhaps leaving some invisible characters. For instance, using a word processor (like Word) to edit the file, instead of Notepad or some real editor. If it was working for some time before the maintenance, that's not likely the problem.

If the error has shifted to php.ini, your .htaccess is fine and we need to figure out what's broken in php.ini.

Nope. Error messages are still saying that it's .htaccess.

Network status page says they're rebuilding Apache/PHP on Buckeye. If it's still broken after that's finished, I'll open a ticket.

Thanks, for your time.
