How to Fix Crawl Errors in Google Webmaster Tools ?
« on: August 29, 2016, 05:58:10 PM »
Hello,

Anyone here know ways How to fix crawl errors in Google Webmaster Tools ?

I got 15 Soft 404 errors ( URL does not exist, but your server is not returning a 404 error.)
and
263 Not found errors ( URL points to a non-existent page )

I strongly want to solve these errors in Google Webmaster Tools for my site

Please share some suggestions

For the soft 404 errors, read http://www.lunarforums.com/search-engine-optimization/difference-between-404-and-soft-404-error/msg382131/#msg382131 . If you have no-longer-existing pages being redirected to other pages (possibly with a 200 code), you may want to consider a 301 (permanent) or 302 (temporary) redirect code for those pages.

Regarding "not found" errors, are those hard 404 errors? The pages really don't exist? You will need to clean up those links.

You can fix this issue by using "Fetch as Google" option provided in the webmaster tool (google search console) by which Googlebot crawls your page. You should also check whether your server displays 404 or 500 error code because having 404 or 500 error codes are more accurate than having a DNS error.
