So, I think it would be much easier to go with a Wordpress theme for website editing, cross-browser efficiency, inserting of multimedia (short videos and pictures) and interactivity.  Anything would be better than a straight HTML site , to Very Happy

I'm unfamiliar with Wordpress at this junction so am open to hear what theme would be best for starters.  I did some preliminary searching and found the WP Remix theme to be interesting.  If you've used this theme yourself, please let me know the pros and cons of it if you will.    Just gathering user-data at this time so any input would be much appreciated!

A theme is more about the appearance of a site (look and layout of its pages) than about its function. All themes should function pretty much the same way. Which one you choose to use is determined by what image you want to project to your customers. A bank should have a conservative, restrained, dignified theme. A children's site should have a colorful, cute look to it. An artsy design house might have something that says, "We're cutting edge and really hip." Etc.

Thank you, both!  I'll go check out Woothemes.  I've seen them before and will go see what's there.  Thanks for your help  Yep

Themes have evolved tremendously with the advent of premium themes. I wrote a blog entry on my experience with a premium theme, specifically a WooTheme. It might help you decide if WordPress is the right tool for you.

In the olden days of WordPress, a theme was a bit of CSS magic (usually donated by some kind developer) and little more. Now premium themes deliver advanced functionality like jQuery wizardry, integrated forms, integrated thumbnails/galleries, and all kinds of CMS goodness.

Lexair,

I found your blog to be very informative.  Thank you!  I'm not a graphic artist either--at all--so just trying to find a theme that is colorful, and full of interactivity on its own.  I only blog if you will on Facebook...not my website.  So, the blogging isn't something I necessarily want.  I guess I can tweak the blog area to contain the monthly newsletters I send out =/  I'm not sure if that's a feasibility or not as I have a lot to learn about Wordpress but just a thought.  If the end-users could comment on the articles, that would be cool Wink  So, I can see having that option for them would be kind of fun and engaging.  I also use my site for a lot of pictures and want to start placing short "how to" vid-clips up for people...just different things I'm looking for a theme to be able to do from the start.  Anyway, thanks for your help!

Well, I chose a theme at themeforest so I'm pretty excited.

I'm reading the ReadMe file associated with WordPress Version 3.0.1 currently.  So, now it looks like I go through the CPanel and set-up a database (insert shreek and expression of terror).  I found the tutorial on how to do so here:  http://wiki.lunarpages.com/WordPress  And, this link I got from here: http://www.lunarforums.com/cpanel_control_panel_hosting_help/cpanel_tutorials_tips_help_and_more-t53931.0.html

This whole changeover to Wordpress though is kind of scary in the sense I don't want to lose my existing site until the theme has been personalized and tested to make sure everything works before going "live" with it and replacing my existing site  Doh   This is my biggest concern right now!   Hypno

I prefer rather strict lines for business websites and for sure the're must be a place for an image on the left of the post and it should be of neutral colors like grey or something of that kind to fit the corporate colors of the company.
