I'm not sure if Netscape supports the div tag. Especially early versions.

Maybe you should use tables after all.

By the way, prem, the link is on the little picture next to the "posted August 09, 2001, 01:39PM" bit. It's the picture of a little person and a house.

I say screw Netscape, I don't get why people are still using it. Everybody knows that IE is better, it supports more stuffs than Netscape and some other browsers. The other thing I don't get, when someone buys Windows 98+(IE comes with it), they download Netscape while they alright have the best browser IE, why why why???. Because Netscape is free, it does mean you have to get it. So people please switch over, it would make the internet better. I know most of you would agree with me.

IE=Internet Explorer

Well, people use Netscape because Internet Explorer is not available for all operating systems. Netscape is available for almost everything.

Most Linux distributions come with Netscape pre-installed and Internet Explorer is not available for Linux (as far as I know).

Solaris is supported though.

Badly written HTML normally works in Internet Explorer whereas Netscape just doesn't deal with it. You might think this is a good thing, but it really isn't if you think about it.

Remember, there are other browsers out there and what suprises me is that people use them!

Opera is fairly common but wierd ones like QNX Voyager will come across your site from time to time.

It's worth making your site compatible with everything if possible or you cut out a lot of people. You might think it's only 10% or whatever, but 10% of 1000 hits is worth bothering about.

I think I'm going to have to agree with Stephan. I know that in my opinion Internet Explorer is the best browser, but you should try and make your sites compatable with as many browsers as you can. In my opinion the better web designer is one who can make their sites work with all browsers even if it does mean sacraficing a few fancy little things. I know that I have trouble making sites that are compatable with Netscrape (yes the r is there on purpose) but at least I can say I try to.

...But that's just my opinion
