Yes or no question, have you tried DeepTrawl Lunarpages Edition?  If you missed it from our last web hosting newsletter, it is a comprehensive web site maintenance tool for searches for dead links, 404 errors, and many other common web site errors. It will also find missing images or invalid images, highlight invalid xhtml and html coding errors, seeks out spelling mistakes and undesirable user postings, helps with SEO and find out of date and slow loading content.

You can read more about DeepTrawl Lunarpages Edition in the November issue of the Lunarpages newsletter.

Where Can You Download DeepTrawl?

Lunarpages clients can download DeepTrawl Lunarpages Edition from the Customer Account Page.  Just go to Specials > then click the banner that says, “Click here for your $700 Free Bonus!”.  On the next screen, scroll down till you find the DeepTrawl section, and click the download link that matches your operating system of choice.  (Windows and Mac Supported)

Troubleshooting DeepTrawl Problems

Having trouble using the program?  Here are a few suggestions:

+  Your domain name must have “lunar” in the nameservers it uses.
+  It is only for Lunarpages customers.
+  If you have issues using www.yourdomain.com, try using just yourdomain.com (dropping the “www”).
+  If you redirect to yourdomain.com/home.php or another page on your domain, try using that full path if you have any issues running the scan.

Hope you enjoy this program, provided to you by your web site maintenance amigos at Lunarpages!

Yes this program is really helpful, I found a lot of bad links and spelling mistakes (ouch!).
Wish you could filter out missing alt tags, since it considers alt="" as a missing tag.  The only filter I can find is for missing attributes (all of them).  But for links, images, spelling, missing meta tags, etc., it really is helpful.  Thanks Lunar Pages.

But be careful to exclude your forums, picture galleries, etc., from the Trawler.

After the software was operating on my site for about 15 minutes I tried to log into my bulletin board, but was banned since my IP was making too many requests - thus triggering a security setting in my forum.

With picture galleries it's just too many links to check, it took way too long and all it's going to find is missing alt tags.

The worst though was a php calendar program I have . . . Deep Trawl was going to trawl every date in existence . . . I think it would have gone on all through the night if I didn't kill it.
