I am sorry but I haven't. Haven't even heard of it. Maybe that shows that it isn't very good and therefore not popular? I always recommend osCommerce, but it's up to you.
I hope someone here has some experiences with the shopping cart you are interested in.

osCommerce? I'll have to check that. emartcart was suggested by PayPal and that is where I heard about them. Their cart integrates right into Paypal which seemed like a good idea, but I'd like to get some feedback from someone who has used them. thanks

Thanks Coon. I checked out the site and it looks like it might be what I need. Do you know if it will integrate with Paypal or if it requires me to accept my own credit cards and such? Thanks again

You can make it work with Paypal. I have it with Paypal on my site, www.soccergrip.com and it works very nice. You can also interpret other credit card processors at a later time if you would like.

I unzipped the program and now have a bunch of file folders. Apparently there isn't an exe. file for the program? So, the question is where do I start amongst all the files? Couldn't find any instructions...have I missed something?

There's an extension for Dreamweaver that will insert paypal code into a web page. It's pretty nifty

Yaxley, scripts to be run on the server are never .exe files.
exe files only run on windows computers.
There should be a file called readme.txt , or at least instructions on the website you downloaded the script from.

Thanks, I'll check for the extension at Macromedias site.
Well Stephan I figured that might be the case, but I couldn't find anything to explain how to set things up. I'll go to their website and also poke around the files I have un zipped. Obvioulsy I was wrong, but I figured there would be some type of exe. file to explain things and provide some setups.

Plugging into paypal is really just a link. You can use elaborate metihds to arrive to that link, but basically it's just a link. I used paypal as my secondary system, so all the paypal link on my site did was bring a popup with all the products in the category they were browsing up. I used database fields and filtered by category, and then the script would build a page based on that query. I no longer use paypal because I found out a lot of 'policies' they have that I don't remember seeing in their terms (plus they keep coming up with new ones), and they made it rather difficult for me to get my money at first. My primary online transaction company is a REAL transaction company: 2checkout.com

I hope TWebMan and Stephen can help you further Yaxley, because I got someone to install it for me once it came to the coding. I understand the cart and how it works well, but I really am horrible with PHP and other scripting languages. I can help you with other questions that you might have about the cart however, just keep me away from the coding.

Thanks again folks. I am going to check out 2 checkout.com and I know exactly what you mean about PayPal. Since Ebay bought them they keep changing their policies and not all in my interest. I did see where they have a quasi shopping cart system now. I have used them for over a year and don't have any complaints and haven't had any problems getting my money (yet). I have been told that they can be difficult for the buyer though.
Well Coon, I guess I'm going to have to ask the website for info. When I unzipped the file I got a ton of files with no instructions on where to go from there:)

There's a free perl shopping cart at http://www.2checkout.com/perlcart_free.htm - it's the one they use but it will interface to other gateways. It has options for SSL (or pgp) onsite or an offsite gateway.
