Do you have your include code in an html page or an shtml page or a php page?

If you have it in an html page, first try renaming your index page to index.shtml to see if that works. If it does, you can leave it as that name.  If you want it to continue as .html,  you need to make sure that your htaccess file has your html parsed as shtml.

No matter what, read these 2 tutorials below.

See Mitch's tutorial here: http://wiki.lunarpages.com/Easier_Way_to_Edit_Static_Content_Using_SSI.

And be sure to read this one - http://wiki.lunarpages.com/SSI_on_html_Web_Pages.

Both short and sweet and will probably solve your problem.

I have 2 files- .htacess and .htaccess.1142811271.
I added the code to each and it did not work in showing the virtual file on website so I took the code out of each htaccess file and unfortunately now have error message
Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@nyrestaurantvideos.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Apache/1.3.41 Server at nyrestaurantvideos.com Port 80

what can i do to get my website back online?  please help

Hi abc,

The information in your public_html/.htaccess file was corrupted (not really corrupted but some lines were jumbled so they ran together). I have corrected this and the site is resolving at http://nyrestaurantvideos.com/ BUT you may want to check through that file and make sure the information is set up the way you want it.
