Think I need some more coffee...LOL! I've run into a snag though when trying to change-up the site a bit.
Objective: To tweak the site a tad, which includes having a horizontal drop-down menu instead of it's current vertical one. Current site looks as follows:
http://www.kypsah.comReason for Change: The vertical nav area creates a lot of wasted space. I'd like to maximum space usage by converting the vertical nav area to a horizontal drop-down menu using the same nav code (just tweaked to make it a horizontal version instead of a vertical one).
Problem: Well, I'm more than rusty on layers and tables and how they work together. However, my thinking is that the horizontal nav bar needs to be in a layered format of course and not a table so that the links can of course list over the content that would be on the page but beneath the navigational layers. Am I making sense? Case in point, currently the mock-page is here
http://kypsah.com/index_2.htm. You'll be able to see the problem in it's current tabled-manner.
Striving For: Since I use a WYSIWYG (Dreamweaver), the tables works out great for me and is easily editable. Therefore, I really don't wish to transform the entire page into layers

I'd rather just have the nav bar be layered with the rest of the page in a table format. So my question: Is this possible? And, how would I resolve it by creating the tabled page and all of it's elements first and then add the layered navigational bar last as a layer on top of everything (by converting it's current tabled format to layers...the actual tool in DW "Convert tables to layers")? Note: I did try and do this but it failed. I selected only the navigational bar and selected "Convert tables to layers". However, this tool layered all of the tables (the whole page including the navigational bar), which isn't what I'm looking for.
Some ideas and constructive criticism are welcomed.
P.S. I know this site needs to go PHP/MySQL; however, that's later-on down the road for now...
