Ari, Ther is a chat script that comes free with your lunar account, it's called PHPChat I think.. you can turn it on in Cpanel... I haven't used it myself just yet so I don't know how good it is... maybe somebody here has it running so you can check it out first... Otherwise, there are LOTS of free php/cgi scripts out there for all sorts of things, including chat rooms... www.hotscripts.comphp.resourceindex.com for starters.

The php chat module can be customized to look however you want, if you know a bit about php and such. Nice site you have there

Actually phpmychat doesnt go that fast all things considered since everything is stored in the db and it acts more like an html chat from the old days than a current chat. In php theres a couple script called clubchat (clubchat.com is the url i believe) that works very well.. You can always use one of those irc applets, thats what the best solution would be for you considering what you have in mind right now for the chat. Something like jIRC.. Ill look up for free applets that do that (i'd rather pay for one though if you have a bit of money since they are more develloped than free ones

The jIRC applet from http://www.jpilot.com/ is amazing. It's very flexible. Really really good. It's not free though...

Yeah, I think that jIRC is the best one too but it costs sadly. It has everything pretty much, so if you got some $dough$ then get it

Its not that cheap at all compared with the work that has been put into it. I do remember a couple irc applets for free somewhere. Dont have the urls anymore though... jIRC is what? twenty bucks? Its way worth it If you order jirc though you gotta be careful with the directory set up. It's most ennerving when you change the directory and the key wont work anymore...

I'd still go with the phpMyChat. IRC can be insecure because it listens on a very common port (or so I'm told). And since it's such an old protocol, those who hack can usually hack it pretty easily.

Yeah, Autarkis, I do know what you mean, that is comparing it to something like IRC, but we do have to think of security (don't we?). I'm not writing home about it, but I figure it's okay, and like you said, for someone new, it's almost (kinda-sorta) turnkey.
