I'm not even sure if I'm in the right Topic -  I'd like to make a very simple forum, no ads, no fancy stuff. And I can hardly make a head tag, totally dependant on dreamweaver :-P. I have a feeling there should be CGI involved. What is that, anyway? Haha. Oh god. i need help. Did I spell scratch right? *sobs*

Well it's nothing wrong with talking to oneself. Dear Voodoo. Yes, actually, I'm not even after a forum. Just a sort of one page-thing people can write stuff on. LIke a pen and a paper. really easy.Ive never seen anything like that. Bad sign.

Voodoo, if you're interested in a fourm without adds, you may want to check out two very nice fourms, which are written in perl.
http://www.yabbforum.com

http://www.ikonboard.com

You will need to download whichever one you decide on, and set up.

I use YaBB, but ikonboard is a nice board as well.
If you need any help setting either up, I'll be more then happy to do it for you, or help you do it.

Thanx guys. So there's no way to make just a sort of scribble board? An applet, maybe? *lost*

These boards - Iconboard and Jabb - do they take up a lot of space? I mean, I'll have to carry te whole load up on my account, right?

Yes, instead of using a complete forum, which is an overkill for what you want, you can get simple little "scripts" which will do what you want.

The best thing for you to do is probably to use a simple guestbook script, as you can easily edit and delete topics.

Search at www.hotscripts.com in the PHP section for Guestbook and you will find loads.

Choose one which doesn't need SQL (or mySQL) because you only have a limited number of databases, it seems silly to use one up for such a simple application.

You said "LIke a pen and a paper"

If you literally mean that, visit http://www.uglypeople.co.uk (my webpage)

Click on General Rubbish
Click on Page 1
Click on "The Gallery"

and you might see what it is you want.

It's a bit of a graffiti board (it's mostly used for rude pictures by the way!)

Stephan, that's it!!

I found a really small posting board on http://realize.be/swentel/module.php?boxcontent=18 thanks to YOU !

So I downloaded some stuff called .php which I have no idea how to use. I'll figure it out, but now it's Star Trek time - Love your site, btw - makes me happier!

OK it's the middle of the night and my neighbour is playing awful Scorpions-ballads again

I've uploaded those strange files and the pitiable result is this http://www.smtf.lunarpages.com/index.php. Well, it's something - although i have no pasword..  http://www.php.net tells me it's to do with the server. As if I had a clue about what server I have. Hah!

Read the instructions you got in the zip (or tar) file that you downloaded, they should tell you how to set it up.

Try opening the files in a text editor and looking inside them to see if there is a default password that you need to change.

Good luck (and well done so far!)

Dear Voodoo,

Why don't you create the files required and try again? Let me know how it turns out! Btw, do you always talk to yourself?

Best wishes, Voodoo
