Hello all:

Here's what I'm trying to do on my website:  I have my main page, then I have links to other pages for members of my family - which, of course, links to another folder on my website.

I have designed an "index.html" file for each one of those folders, and uploaded the files.  However, when I click on my main page to "go to Mom's page" or "go to Laura's page," instead of going to their pages, I get a page with the  directory tree that has  "index of ... blah blah" and LISTS the file "index.html."   "[confused]"

Does this make sense?  What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!!!

well, that doesn't make sense...

for example, if you have a file located at

yourdomain.com/momsfolder/index.html

you should be able to link to

yourdomain.com/momsfolder

and it should automatically go to the index file.

mom's page seems to be working fine.  laura's and jim's page, however, only shows the directory.  upload an index.html file to those directories and you should be fine.

OK. Now I am even more confused.  When I went to my website www.lisalaurajim.com, I couldn't get to my index page for my Mom's page.

However, when I went to nebula.lunarpages.com/~lisala2, everything worked just fine!!  What gives???

Have you only just registered that domain name?

All domain names take a while to start working. 24 hours minimum, 72 hours roughly maximum.

might be a refresh problem.  try a ctrl+f5, if you're using ie, to get a new download of the page.

try uploading the index page you used for mom's page to the other two directories.

I rebooted and refreshed.  I haven't even tried uploading another index.html file to my other folders because I can't get the first one (in Mom's folder!) to show up..
