How widely supported is the IFRAME tag? The HTML book I have says it is only supported by IE4+, but that book is probably close to 4 years old now.

I know it works in Mozilla, so I assume it also works in the newest version of Netscape.

I want to use an IFRAME in one of my pages... is it safe to do so?

I have Netscape 7 and it supports it.  I'm pretty sure 6 does to, but you should probably check.

I use the i frame in internet explorer 6 and it works great,and as TWeBman said it's ok in the new mozilla 5 too.
Not tried in in Opera yet, but I know for sure it's ok with Mac IE.

i think for ie, it goes back as far as IE 4x, for netscape/mozilla i think it goes back to netscape 6, and whatever the mozilla equivalent is.

Here are the stats for which browsers my visitors use (from my Bravenet counter):

IE 6.0 = 43.69%
IE 5.0 = 33.21%
AOL = 7.74%
Netscape 4.0 = 7.05%
Netscape 3.0 = 3.55%
Mozilla = 2.36%
IE 4.0 = 1.19%
Netscape 6.0 = 0.48%
Opera = 0.27%
Opera 5 = 0.17%
WebTV = 0.14%
Unknown = 0.10%
Konqueror = 0.05%
Explorer 3.0 = 0.01%

That means at least 80.93% of my users use browsers that I know can handle IFRAME (IE 4-6, Mozilla, and Netscape 6).

So I guess it's fairly safe for me to use the IFRAME tag.

I'm making a F.A.Q page and I want the questions to be in one frame (the IFRAME) and the answers to be in the main frame. There are other ways to do it, but I think using the IFRAME tag will be the easiest.
