Hey everyone,

I have a site which comes in three versions, a Full version, a Lite version and a Frameless version. When the user first enters, they are presented with all three choices on the splash page. What I was wondering is if there is any way to use cookies to remember which one the user selects and automatically re-direct them to it upon entering the site the next time. Any insight on this would be greatly appricated!

Thank you,
Vincent T. Vantine

(PS: The site is still undergoing work, but you can view it at http://www.vtemulation.com/index2.html)

I actually don't know how to do what you're asking, but if you know some javascript, this webmonkey tutorial should help you out a bit.  even if you don't, it looks like a great place to start; you could probably just copy/paste one of the example scripts and modify it as you like.

good luck!

(just took a look at your site) - looks really cool, nice gradients, layout, color!  it's very usable, everything's exactly where the user'd expect it to be.

only thing, in the "full version" of the site, the VT Emulation logo and menu links inside the frame seem a little redundant, since it looks like both are repeated outside the frame.  i'd probably take them out of the frame, keep it for the user-selected content/newsfeed, and leave the static content (logo, menu) right where it is: set off from the rest.

Xenoran,

http://www.autorepaircd.com/setcookies.html

WARNING: If you click on one of the links, you'll have to delete the cookie to get back to that page, as it will automatically redirect you on refresh, after choosing your site!

Change urls attached to the variable named "mysite" to whatever the actual urls need to be for Site1, Site2 and Site3.  If you don't want them to go to that site immediately, then take out the refresh function both in the link and in the head of the document.
Have fun!

this script will do the job for you, with the option to remove the cookie so that a new default page may be selected.
