So, I am asking all of u... what have I to do... more exact: on what do I have to put more wood on the fire!? HTML, ASP, SQL, Javascript, PHP!? What do I learn first... besides HTML!?

the first thing you should learn is HTML. Then a little javascript. After all that start PHP or ASP(I think PHP is better). Here's a good site to learn HTML and JavaScript. http://www.htmlgoodies.com = very nice site. Good Luck

You should learn how to use the table tag in html. It's really important for layout.
It's also useful to draw a picture of what you want the site to look like.
Learn how to use a graphics program, like Paintshop pro or whatever.
After that, learn PHP if you have time (and need it) because it's really powerful and works in all browsers.
Anyway, whatever you do, just mess about with it until it looks good. Good luck

Yeah, JS can be a headache. Check out http://www.zdnet.com/downloads/ for some free JS editors that might ease your pain

For a new webdesigner i would recommend learning curves of css, cross browser capability and definately all there is to know about tables. Javascripts and PHP scripts can be obtained all too easy for you to need to learn these rightaway.
Just my opinion

Get yourself a downloadable tutorial for html from ' http://www.pagetutor.com/I believe theres also an introduction into javascript and some info on coding css (cascading style sheets) If you're interested in learning javascript I highly recommend learning C... my new knowledge of C has helped me immensely in teaching myself javascript.

well, it seems you've gotten soem great advice (expected from the Lunarpages forum users). I however reccomend inspiration. It's sort of an overlooked thing, but it really is important. I don't advise you go and steal layouts, but just mosey about the internet and take note of things you like, things you don't, minor touches that are nice, colors that work together, things like that. I'd also check out some of them art deco fansy pants sites like www.deviantart.com , www.wastedyouth.org (i think that's down right now), www.factory512.com , www.surfstation.lu , man their are a million, just go to those and check out the links/inspiration sections. It can really inspire the mind. Anyhow, lastly make sure you're having fun. If you don't enjoy making websites, then why do you bother doing it? I do it cause i love to, and cause sometimes people pay me . Anyhow, i'll shut up. Good luck to you. -Brian

Good point Brain. I learned by getting ahold of a WYSIWYG html editor. After learning the basics of html code, I eventually moved to notepad. An HTML book definately helps out alot when you're a beginner and even experienced when you just can't remember a certain format.
Once you start coding in your sleep is when you know something is wrong. :P

so glad i'm not alone.... no joke. also, a html book is a great thing to have. Joe Burns (webmaster of www.htmlgoodies.com) has written a few books based on the stuff on his website, and i think a few are even best sellers. I'd recommend them, and his site. -Brian [ October 28, 2001: Message edited by: Brian ]

Well it doesn't mean that you are a vegeterian. Mebbe that you have a chicken fetish or a samich fetish. prolly both.
